Pointless traditions still existing in my region

Image
I shall be talking about the ones existing in my region i.e. rural northern Rajasthan & western Haryana ( i.e.  baagar ). (All the mathematics & economics written here lies in lower middle class context.)  (For ladies) You must put on your veils ( have  ghoonghat ) in presence of all men & senior women at your  sasural  . By  sasural  I mean the entire village. It's considered a sign of respect. But in your  maayka , it's not needed. They have known your respect since your birth. It's a bit difficult to understand how men can always  ghoonghat lessly express respect towards others. Pic: from  Google  )  Everytime you visit your daughter /granddaughter in her sasural, you must give 50 or 100 rupees to her, her  saas ( सास),  kaaker   saas, taayer saas, maamer saas, buaaer saas,  all  saas ', her  nanads  and other married/unmarried girls around. If you r a boy yet & hap...

One of 'Most indian thing ever'

"   She is my real sister.” This won't make sense to a westerner. Because for them a sister is real sister only. All others can't be sisters. Cousin at most. In Bharat, we have chacheri, mameri & fuferi sisters and then the real sisters. English is such a poor language , they don't have words for all my other lovely sisters . For all my lovely chachi, taai, bua, maami & maasi they don't have words.. everyone is an ‘aunt' & this word is feelingless…and dry. You are sitting with eyes closed , they say u r meditating. But you can do so many things with eyes closed : japa, thapa, shoonya, Dhyana, dharana, samadhi or may be u r trying sleep with spine erect. People have spent their life beautifully with eyes closed , just chanting “ ram -ram” within. English..Ufff. I feel, we must bring these words in English dictionary before my children come on this planet.

What am I not afraid to admit?

That I am anti -party ( for the so called parties : full of smoke, intoxication, unconscious hookups, irresponsible - compulsive behavior of people, and the amount of money they waste…) . Someone asked me , “ then what do u do to enjoy the moments, to throw away the stress of work”. : Dhyana, yes it's much more efficient & sensible way of experiencing pleasantness ( u can call it madness or a very different kind of intoxication : see the portraits of typical yogis, u will always find them ecstatic or take a walk in Himalayan caves) . And my work is never a STRESS for me, cause I only do what I really care to do. Namaskaram

Small things but matter a lot.........

• Putting your trash in the bin… and not throwing it on road / floor / ground / under bus-seats . ..as far as possible. • Not taking the amount of food that u can't consume at a time & ending up throwing it into bin. • A smile on you face when someone familiar passes by you. You have no right to spread your misery in public places. • Keeping your humanity full on & doing what is needed at the moment when you are out in the world & throwing your concrete ideas of morality, immorality , sins ..bla bla…into the bin. • Standing up on national anthem. You must understand it's about 30 % of your people who are not eating 2 times a day. Without that national integrity, we can never pull them out of that socio economic pit. • Supporting the govt for 5 years in nation making once the majority of your country elect them as nation's representatives. Even if you don't like them , you need to respect the decision of the nation. • Acknowledging the success o...
